About Diann Wilson

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (once called the buttonhole capital of the US by Johnny Carson), Diann Wilson first learned to love the written word when she and her sisters shared a weekly bath while their mother read to them from Under the Red Umbrella. She soon advanced to reading to herself and developed a particular fondness for Nancy Drew mysteries.

After contemplating a career as a sleuth, she instead attended college and pursued a more traditional occupational path – working in education and business in Oklahoma, Iowa, Arizona, Minnesota and California.  It was during this time that her first book was published, The Other Blended Learning: A Classroom Centered Approach. It was also during this time that she realized she had developed a fondness for states ending with the letter A.

At 63, she travelled with her husband to Hawaii to celebrate her retirement from the corporate rat race.  Little did she suspect that during the trip, her husband would break his rib, leading them to buy property and become nut farmers. Little did she suspect that she would develop a fondness for a state ending with the letter I.

When not swimming, farming, or doing yoga, Diann writes articles for the local newspaper and serves as the president of the Hawaii Writers Guild. Having found great joy and amazement in her transition from the business world to the farm, she is now writing about her experiences through a collection of humorous essays under the working title, Goodbye Big City, Hello Big Island.  One of these days she hopes to stop writing and start publishing.
